Hong Kong, Jan 11 (DPA) The police Sunday were investigating a seventh prostitute-murder in the former British colony in the past 12 months. The 47-year-old woman was found dead Saturday evening in the apartment where she serviced clients in what police believe may have been a robbery and murder.

A police spokesman said officers were called to the scene after a friend of the victim found her dead on her bed.

The case is the seventh in the past 12 months involving women working alone in apartments known as “one-woman brothels” in the high-rise city of 6.9 million.

Pressure groups in Hong Kong say the government policy which makes it illegal for more than one woman to work as a prostitute in a single apartment makes them vulnerable to assault.

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with four of the six other prostitute murders that have taken place in Hong Kong over the past year.
