Nevada (US), May 17 (ANI): Hindus have welcomed Martin Scorsese’s reported focus on Beatles star George Harrison’s dedication to Hinduism in his upcoming documentary “Living in the Material World”.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that with Oscar winner Scorsese’s (Raging Bull) expertise in cinematic art and his interest in spirituality, they hoped that the documentary would depict authentic Hinduism.
Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, however, urged Scorsese to accurately show Hinduism concepts and beliefs in the documentary. If Scorsese needed any help on issues relating to Hinduism, he or other Hindu scholars would be glad to assist, Zed added.
Shooting has reportedly been completed and the documentary is being edited by David Tedeschi (No Direction Home). Aiming at a release in 2011, it reportedly includes interviews with Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Phil Spector, Tom Petty, Yoko Ono, Eric Idle, Eric Clapton, etc., besides never before released footage of Harrison’s life. Scorsese reportedly found Harrison’s spiritual journey fascinating.
Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal. (ANI)
