Hindus send greetings to Jews on Purim
March 8th, 2011 - 6:02 pm ICT by ANINevada (US), March 08 (ANI): Hindus have sent greetings to Jewish communities world over on Purim, which falls on March 20 this year.
Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a release in Nevada (USA) today, expressed warmest greetings on behalf of Hindu community on Jewish festival of Purim; wishing happiness, peace and joy to all the Jews.
Rajan Zed, who is the president of Universal Society of Hinduism, stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world. Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.
Purim, held in high esteem, is Jewish feast commemorating the deliverance of Jews, as documented in the Book of Esther. It usually includes listening to Book of Esther, sending food gifts, giving in charity, and eating a festive meal.
Judaism is a monotheistic religion of world’s about 14 million Jews whose most sacred text is Torah. Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents and moksh (liberation) is its ultimate goal.(ANI)
