Hindus greet Buddhists on Vesakha
April 27th, 2011 - 3:34 pm ICT by ANINevada (US), April 27 (ANI): Hindus have sent greetings to Buddhist communities worldwide for the upcoming Vesakha.Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a release in USA on Tuesday, expressed warmest greetings on behalf of Hindu community on Buddhist celebration of Vesakha, wishing peace, blessings and joy to all the Buddhists.Zed, who is the president of Universal Society of Hinduism, stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world.
Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.Vesakha is the major Buddhist festival of the year encompassing the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Gautama Buddha.
It includes charitable gifts, meditation, bathing of baby Buddha, vegetarian food, reciting devotional hymns/verses, paying homage to Buddha, hoisting of Buddhist flag, among others. (ANI)
