Hillary Clinton reveals her pain over Monica Lewinsky scandalJanuary 19th, 2008 - 1:23 pm ICT by admin
London, Jan 19 (ANI): Hillary Clinton has broken her silence on the pain and anguish she went through after learning about her husband and former US President Bill Clintons affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, exactly a decade after the incident was first reported.
In a soul-baring interview on Foxs Tyra Banks Show, the former first lady candidly revealed how she worked through the inner torment, but added that she never doubted her husbands love for her.
I never doubted Bills love for me, ever, she said on the show, aired on the eve of the Nevada caucuses, her next contest with Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination.
But I had to decide what I ought to do, I think it is so important to be able to hear yourself at a moment when it is hard . . . there are so many times when you really have to listen to yourself, she added.
The US Presidential hopeful was left humiliated after it emerged her husband had cheated on her with Lewinsky.
Bill initially swore under oath that he did not have sexual relations with Lewinsky - but later admitted that he had misled the American public.
Asked by Banks if she had been embarrassed by the affair, Hilary replied: Sure, all of that.
But I was just praying so hard and thinking so hard about whats right to do that I couldnt let anything else interfere with that.
The momentary feelings - youre mad, youre really upset, youre disappointed - all of that goes through your mind.
But I have found that you really shouldnt make decisions in the heat of those moments. You have to think about it, she added.
Hilary further said that women whose husbands have cheated on them often ask her what they should do, but she argued that every case was unique, reports Times Online.
I say you have to be true to yourself. No one story is the same as any other story, she said.
I dont know your reality. I cant possibly substitute my judgment for yours, but what I can tell you is you must be true to yourself. You have to do what is right for you, she added. (ANI)
