Hillary Clinton gives up hope of recovering $13m spent on her loaned campaign
December 23rd, 2008 - 12:57 pm ICT by ANIWashington, Dec 23 (ANI): Having spent more than a year on a failed effort to win the White House race, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has officially given up hope of recovering about 13 million dollars she borrowed for her presidential campaign, according to campaign finance reports filed.
This means that Hillary will not seek repayment for the money that wasinvested in her White House bid.
However, Hillary still owes 6.4 million dollars to vendors that her campaign used, reports the Washington Post.
As of Nov. 30, she still owed about 5 million dollars to her chief strategist and pollster Mark Penn.
The documents show that Clinton has made strides in paying off her campaign debt.
She paid media consultant Mandy Grunwald 58,000 dollars and she finished paying her former spokesman, Howard Wolfson, 200,000 dollars.
However, the time is running out and once she is confirmed as Obama’’s secretary of state, she will be barred from raising money to pay off the debt. And she still owes plenty to vendors. (ANI)
