Hewitt must be aggressive to beat Federer: Experts

Melbourne, Jan. 25 (ANI): Past players and experts are of the view that Australian tennis star Lleyton Hewitt can humble Roger Federer in their Australian Open fourth-round blockbuster on Monday night only with all-out attack.
“Roger wins better than 97 per cent of his grand slam matches when he wins the first set,” Fox Sports quoted Roger Rasheed, Hewitt’s former coach, as saying.
Former Australian tennis star John Newcombe said Hewitt must drop all thoughts of defence and go for the jugular as he tries to repeat his epic victory over Federer in a Davis Cup semi-final in 2003.
“He’s got to go for it. He’s got to take his chances. If he gets at all defensive, he’s going to be out of there pretty quickly. There will be patches where Roger will be brilliant, and you’ve just got to let that happen. Forget about it and keep on attacking,” he said.
Hewitt hasn’t beaten Federer in 14 matches since that victory in 2003, in which he famously rallied from two sets and 5-2 down to ensure an Australian victory over Switzerland. (ANI)
