Heavily armed police respond to shooting, possible hostage situation at Discovery Channel HQ
September 2nd, 2010 - 1:11 am ICT by BNO NewsSILVER SPRING, MARYLAND (BNO NEWS) — Heavily armed police were responding to reports of a shooting and possible hostage situation at the Discovery Channel headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
A Montgomery County Police spokeswoman told BNO News that a 911 call came in at around 1 p.m. local time, stating that an Asian man armed with a weapon and possibly explosives had entered the lobby.
“Our Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded, along with SWAT,” the spokeswoman said, adding that shots had been fired. She did not know if there were any hostages, or if anyone was injured.
