Jan 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The three zebras which had been reported to have escaped from the Hearst Ranch located in California were shot and killed by neighboring ranchers who claimed that they were angry because the zebras had been threatening their horses and cattle, according to the ‘Huffington Post’.

These three zebras were a part of the eighty zebra herd which wanders the property at Hearst Ranch. They were descendants of the animals which were brought in 1923 to the estate of William Randolph Hearst, which was located in San Simeon.

Neighboring rancher David Fiscalini of the Green Valley Cattle Company reported that he had shot two of the zebras after they chased seven of his horses around his property, which is located approximately ten miles from Hearst Ranch. Another neighbor killed the third zebra after it went after his cattle.

But the great grandson of William Randolph Hearst, Steve Hearst feel that the men should have called and reported the missing zebras to the Hearst Ranch. “Neighbors are usually there to help their neighbors, not shoot their zebras,” Hearst stated. “It’s a shame they took that action.”
