Health food mag fattens up thin model
May 16th, 2010 - 1:35 pm ICT by ANILondon, May 16 (ANI): Holland & Barrett, one of the world’s leading health brands, is facing flak for ‘retouching’ the body shape of a model on its magazine cover to make her look fuller-figured.
The retailer digitally modified the image of the model in an issue of Healthy, its customer magazine, to cover up her true thinness.
The use of such retouching in a health magazine will raise concerns that the magazine industry is simply ignoring the ’size-zero’ issue, reports the Telegraph.
The incident was brought up during a round-table debate on the issue of retouching earlier this month, hosted by the model agency Leni’s Model Management and attended by photographers, magazine editors and models including Jodie Kidd.
During the debate, Jane Druker, the editor of Healthy magazine, admitted that Kamilla Wladyka, the model who features in the April issue, was so thin in real life that her image was radically retouched before appearing on the cover. (ANI)
