London, Jan. 3 (ANI): Radical Islamic preacher Anjem Choudary is plotting to register “sick” protests against British troops fighting in Afghanistan by sending hate letters to relatives of fallen soldiers.

A hardline group led by hate preacher Anjem Choudary is also planning to march through the town that welcomes home British dead troops.

Choudary’s henchmen are planning to carry “coffins” in honour of Muslim victims in the wars against Iraq and Afghanistan.

But before that preacher has penned letters to the families of those who fought in a war “not about democracy, but about preventing the rise of Islam”.

Relatives of the fallen soldiers have branded Choudary “sick” and told him to take his fight to Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

More than 12,000 Facebook users have also set up a group to try to stop the Wootton Bassett march.

Rose Gentle, 44, whose son Gordon, 19, died in Iraq, said: “This sort of thing is just hurtful. It’s going to cause trouble, which is maybe what they want. But they should hit the Government, not the families of those who have lost loved ones.”

And another mum who has lost a son in Afghanistan but asked not to be named said: “This is just a low act. In fact it’s sick.”

Former Wootton Bassett mayor Chris Wannell said: “If this man (Choudary) has any decency, he will not hold a march.”

Choudary, 42, claims his campaign is aimed at making the public “realise the truth” about the wars.

“We need to ignite a wider discussion on what is actually taking place. The procession will be peaceful. Those there will have banners saying something like ‘British soldiers should return home. There is no need and no right for them to be there,” he said. (ANI)
