London, Aug 25 (ANI): The British woman, who was caught on CCTV dumping a cat in a wheelie bin, has said that she did it as a joke, and cannot see what the fuss is all about, especially since it is just a cat.

Mary Bale, 45, a spinster, faces a possible RSPCA prosecution for her actions, which have been put down by animal lovers from all over the world, after footage of her dumping four-year-old tabby Lola was put on the Internet.

Bale was tracked down to her terraced house in Coventry, less than half a mile from where she grabbed Lola, and when she was questioned about what she had done, she threw back her head and laughed.

“I really don’t see what everyone is getting so excited about - it’s just a cat. I was walking home from work and saw this cat wander out in front of me,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

“I don’t know what came over me, but I suddenly thought it would be funny to put it in the wheelie bin, which was right beside me.

“I did it as a joke because I thought it would be funny. I never thought it would be trapped. I expected it to wriggle out of the bin,” she stated.

Bale was seen on the footage peering furtively from side to side before picking up the hapless puss, but she was still defiant about what she had done.

“People are reading too much into things. I’ve no feelings about cats one way or the other. I don’t keep pets myself - but I have no problem with people who do,” she said.

“OK, I shouldn’t have done it - but it’s just a cat at the end of the day. I don’t think I deserve to be hated by people all over the world, it was just a split second of madness.

“Cats are good climbers and I assumed it would just scramble out through the lid and go on its way,” she stated.

Bale now faces losing her job as a customer services assistant at Royal Bank of Scotland, and is also worried about the effect the incident will have on her hospitalised father. (ANI)
