Hamid Karzai urges Pakistan to cooperate in rooting out terrorism

Helmand (Kabul), Jan 23 (ANI): Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai has urged Pakistan to cooperate in removing the menace of terrorism from the region.
Speaking in Helmand airbase in Southwest Afghanistan on Thursday, Karzai said there was need for India, Pakistan and Afghanistan to work together to root out terrorism from the region.
He expressed the hope that Pakistan would extend its full cooperation in removing the menace from its soil.
“Terrorism in one country is definitely going to affect other countries. So, as Afghanistan was affected, Pakistan did not remain unaffected and the same is now unfortunately there in India. Therefore, it’’s needed of us to work much harder. I hope that Pakistan would fully cooperate with us to remove the menace of terrorism,” said Karzai.
Karzai further said that he hoped the new Obama regime in United States would continue to assist Afghanistan and bring right pressure in the region to fight terrorism effectively.
Pakistan is vital to Western efforts to defeat insurgency in Afghanistan. The United States and NATO are depending on Pakistan to stop Taliban infiltrating into Afghanistan.
The United States has more than 33,000 troops in Afghanistan and President Barack Obama has committed to send more to try to turn the tide of the insurgency. (ANI)
