Gwinnett County Schools To Remain Closed On Monday Due To Bad Weather Conditions

Jan 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) School authorities in Georgia did not have any second thoughts after a massive snow storm blasted in several parts of the state. Owing to the extremely hazardous conditions outside various schools authorities announced for school closings on Monday. Several schools including the Gwinnett County Public Schools and Walton County Public Schools will remain shut down today owing to the bad snow storm that the state is undergoing currently. The National Weather Department has already issued out warning notices that the state will continue to be exposed to the threat of the snow storm until 7 p.m on Monday.
Snowfall started descending in various counties on Sunday after 8:30 in the night gradually advancing to dumping a thick layer of snow in parts of the US state. The roads are in an extremely perilous situations as they are capped with sleet and snow. Frozen ice on the roads are a major reason for the accidents. Reports of school bus accidents are not unusual during this season. Hence school authorities thought it wise to keep schools closed trough out Monday. Atlanta has bee hit badly due to the natural phenomena which is one of the key reasons why city and county officials are requesting parents to keep a track of the school closing updates.
The decision for school closings gained a momentum when news broke out that the former Governor of Georgia Sonny Perdue called out for a state emergency due to the nasty weather conditions. However, it has not yet been decided if schools will resume on Tuesday or will remain closed. The decisions are likely to be based upon the weather conditions.
