TalibanKabul, Oct 25 (DPA) Two foreign nationals, a South African and a British, and a local security guard were shot dead in the centre of the Afghan capital Saturday, the police said.”Two foreigners and one of their Afghan guards were killed by gunmen this morning,” said Alishah Ahmadzai, deputy Kabul police chief.

“The foreigners were from South Africa and Britain,” he said, adding that they might also hold second nationalities.

The attack happened in front of the offices of international shipping company DHL in the centre of Kabul, few hundred metres from the presidential palace.

Ahmadzai said that both dead foreigners were international employees of DHL.

“We don’t know the motive of the shooting yet, but it will only be clear after the ongoing investigation is complete,” Ahmadzai said.

He said another two of DHL’s guards were wounded in the attack and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The attack came five days after an aid worker with dual South African and British nationality was killed in Kabul.

Taliban militants took responsibility for the killing of Gayle Williams, 34, who worked for SERVE, a Christian charity working with disabled Afghans.

The militants accused Williams of “preaching Christianity” in the country, an allegation that SERVE denied.

Three Western female aid workers and their Afghan driver were killed in a Taliban attack outside Kabul in August.
