Guinea Bissau President assassinated at Presidential compound
March 2nd, 2009 - 5:37 pm ICT by David M N JamesThe president and the chief of staff of the Guinea Bissau, President Joao Bernardo Vieira has been killed today. Reports coming in from Guinea Bissau indicate that the military chief has been shot dead. This precedes a gunfire that was heard in the capital. People on the ground say that heavy gunfire was reported around Guinea-Bissau presidency. This came after the state radio said in a broadcast that the military chief killed. Guinea-Bissau’s state radio earlier reported that President Joao Bernardo Vieira was killed by soldiers in a bomb attack. However, there is no confirmation that the Guinea-Bissau’s President Joao Bernardo Vieira assassination.
