Grime writing on dusty cars takes a wackier turn in UK
October 20th, 2010 - 5:13 pm ICT by ANILondon, Oct 20 (ANI): We all remember writing our names on the backs of dusty windshields on cars, but grime writing is a whole new trend, with messages getting wackier by the day.
The trend of ‘grime writing’ was revealed when customers started Tweeting slogans they had seen on the backs of unkempt vehicles, reports The Telegraph.
One of the favourite ones was seen in Abingdon, Oxon, where a girl dumped her partner via car graffiti, ” We are so over”, in large letters on the dirt of his backwindow.
A week later he still hadn’t washed his car.
A prison van outside Pentonville Jail had “I fought the law, but the law won!” written across the back doors, while another said, “said “Leave your van across my driveway again, and I’ll torch it.”
Others included “I wish my wife was this dirty!” underneath which in different writing was scrawled, “she is when she’s with me!”
“A number of street artists have now taken to expressing themselves through the innovative practice of reverse graffiti,” said Matt Chapman from trends website Inhabitat.com.
“Taking a cue from the “Wash Me” messages scrawled on the back of delivery trucks, they seek out soot covered surfaces and inscribe them with images, tags, and even advertising slogans.” (ANI)
