New York, Jan 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) For the first time in 24 years, General Motor’s Chevy Camaro managed to beat Ford’s Mustang in sales.

The 2010 sales figures revealed that the Camaro sold 81,299 units while the Mustang sold 73,716 units. The two sports cars are in fierce battle for the supremacy of the sales of sports cars in the United States. However, when the Camaro took a seven year hiatus, the Mustang had a free day until it was redesigned and brought back to the market in 2009. The two companies have been in this rivalry since the 60’s.

The two companies have now shifted their attention and their competition to more energy efficient cars. The companies’ electric cars are both out and they have started selling on the United States market.

An auto analyst, Rebecca Lindland, explained the rivalry. She said that, “This race represents the America that loves cars. These vehicles demonstrate that Americans still love well-designed, well-proportioned and well- performing cars.”

GM nearly busted during the peak of the economic recession. The company was only saved after billions of dollars of taxpayers’ money were given to the company. The trust seemed to have paid off because the company has gone public with its shares again.
