Covina, Jan 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 33-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child endangerment following a pot cookie saga.

The arrest of Veronica Sylvester follows the hospitalization of her daughters. The daughters were hospitalized after they ate a pot cookie that they picked from their kitchen counter.

The two girls are aged 10 and 11 years. The Covina police told reporters that when the children returned from school on Monday, they found the cookie in a bag on the kitchen counter.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported that shortly after the girls picked the cookie and ate it, they started complaining of clammy skin and numbness. When their condition failed to improve, the girls were taken to the hospital.

When doctors tested them, they realized traces of marijuana in their system and Veronica was subsequently arrested.

Veronica indicated in her caution statement to the police that she got the cookie from a friend. She said the cookie was given to her for medical purposes but the police determined that she does not have a prescription for that.

Veronica is being held on a $100,000 bail, which she failed to raise.
