Islamabad, July 12 (IANS) Yousuf Raza Gilani was a quiet student who used to dress well, recalled the Pakistan prime minister’s former teacher.
R.A. Khan, who was Gilani’s English teacher, said: “The little I remember of him, he was a quiet student focused on his studies, and used to dress well and was very friendly with his class mates.”
Khan taught Gilani English at Lahore’s Government College in 1974, reported the Associated Press of Pakistan.
The teacher, now 81, met Gilani in Lahore.
The prime minister said he had safely kept the Character Certificate given by Khan in his own hand-writing, saying that document was his “precious asset”.
Khan, who had migrated from Mumbai to Pakistan in 1947, said that it was a matter of great pride for him that one of his students was now the chief executive of the country.
