Germany rejects personal damages for Nazi atrocity
October 23rd, 2008 - 2:54 am ICT by IANS ( 1 comment )Berlin, Oct 23 (DPA) Germany rejected Wednesday a Rome court verdict, saying that it would not pay personal damages for Nazi atrocities, because it has already paid reparations to Italy as a nation. On Tuesday, nine families in Italy had won a Court of Cassation award of 1 million euros ($1.3 million) for relatives killed when Nazi soldiers massacred 203 people at Civitella in northern Italy in June 1944.
Jens Ploetner, spokesman for the foreign ministry in Berlin, said the damages award by the Court of Cassation was “unacceptable.”
Modern Germany accepted moral responsibility for war crimes committed in the name of Germany in Italy by the Nazis and desired a dialogue with survivors and relatives.
However, financial compensation claims were closed under a 1961 treaty between Germany and Italy.
He said that under international law, personal damages claims against the German government were not the right way to rectify past wrongs.

Hitler was neither german, born austrian, nor Aryan, but had jewish relatives. The trial against Hitler and Amnesty was and is still missing since 1923 by wrongdoing of those who did and do wrong, are Constititution(s) Breaking in doing/non doing. That is not possible. “Hitler is not Germany”, Bundeskanzler Willy Brandt, who wrote “Criminals and the other Germany”, Olso 1946/Bonn 2007, a duty to buy and quote (sic!) for every citizen in the Geltungsbereich Grundgesetz/Univ Human Rights, for to cometo an end withthe bad Hitler/nazi amnesty and the crimes linked to that. But a fair Trial in advantage to Fam Bundeskanzler Brandt, Fam Freya von Moltke (98), Buckingham Palace (HM Queen, rej, 83), “President’s Holocaust Commission”, Pres Carter (84)und/and partners/notifiers et al was till today rejected vain and with wrong advantage by those who should better
