Berlin, Aug 25 (DPA) Three people who donated money to Islamist terrorist groups or praised Jihadists on the internet have been indicted for assisting terrorism, German federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
The two men, Alican T, aged 21, and Fatih K, aged 31, and the woman, Filiz G, aged 28, have German citizenship. They are expected to face trial in Berlin. The woman and the man, 21, have been in custody since February. The other man is at large.
The prosecutors in the southern city of Karlsruhe charged their actions had aided the Islamic Jihad Union (IJU), the German Taliban Mujahedin DTM and Al Qaeda. From November 2009 to February 2010 they allegedly remitted 4,300 euros ($5,500) to the Islamists.
They are also accused of spreading radical Islamist videos on the internet. The woman allegedly made 1,000 posts to Germany’s leading web forum for Islamists. All have been indicted for assisting a foreign terrorist organisation, a criminal charge under German law.
Like Al Qaeda, the IJU and DTM operate in Afghanistan and attack western troops.
The surnames of the accused were withheld by the prosecutors.
