Melbourne, June 12 (IANS) The West Indies have received a shot in the arm with the return of skipper Chris Gayle for the third Test against Australia here Thursday. Gayle is playing his first game of the series despite not having fully recovered from the groin injury, which forced him to miss the first two Tests.
Gayle said he was was fit enough to play as the Windies bid to square the three Test series, according to Herald Sun.
“Not 100 per cent fit, but 90 per cent,” Gayle said.
“But I can cope.
“I was not 90 per cent fit (for the second Test) in Antigua. The physio said I was 70 per cent, and basically we didn’t want to risk it.
“So we gave it more time, and it’s feeling a bit better now, so I am definite (to play).”
The opener said he felt comfortable batting, with his only real worry with the injury being his running between the wickets.
