Gay couple ’spark off Heathrow terror alert’ through hoax call
March 12th, 2011 - 5:34 pm ICT by ANILondon, Mar 12 (ANI): Two gay lovers sparked off a terror alert at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal Five through a hoax call to the police saying that the other was going to ‘blow up something ‘.
Thames Valley Police officers targeted a 72-year-old man, whose name was given to them, before realising that the call was a fabricated one. Someone had reportedly dialled 999 to inform that the older man was on his way to Oxford railway station armed with a bomb, the Daily Mail reports.
The paper quoted a source as saying that: “Someone gave the man’s name and said that he had a bomb in his bag and was on his way to blow something up. He did not specify what.”
“These allegations have to be taken seriously and precautions needed to be taken. Once the man at Heathrow was stopped and searched he was quickly ruled out,” the source added. (ANI)
