G20 success gives Brown huge boost in polls

London, Apr 5 (ANI): British Prime Minister Gordon Brown a huge boost in the polls due to the success of the G20 summit and President Barack Obama’s visit.
In the first survey since the summit ended on Thursday, 70 per cent of people thought the Prime Minister had handled events well.
Just 15 per cent believed Brown had done badly at the meeting, which pledged a one trillion dollars boost to the world’s economies.
According to the Sunday Mirror/ICM poll, 69 per cent believe the summit will boost the global economy, with just 21 per cent saying it will do nothing to help.
The summit also saw Brown reverse recent polls, which had Tory leader David Cameron as the politician who is most trusted on the economy.
The survey found that 42 per cent thought Brown was better at running the economy, compared with 38 per cent for Cameron.
In a further blow to Cameron, another poll shows Labour eating into the Tory lead. Labour were up by three points in a YouGov poll for the Sunday Times, seven behind the Tories on 34 per cent.
It’s the narrowest gap for months and was accompanied by a boost in Brown’s own popularity. It showed 41 per cent thought he was doing a good job - up from 36 per cent in November. (ANI)
