Funeral rites of burnt Indian-origin woman to be held in Fiji
January 27th, 2011 - 1:15 pm ICT by ANIAuckland (New Zealand), Jan.27 (ANI): The funeral rites of the fatally burned woman had lived in New Zealand for five years, will take place in Nadi, Fiji, tomorrow, state radio reports in Suva.
Fiji Broadcasting said the remains of Mrs Sharma would be cremated at the Wailoaloa cemetery in Nadi at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
Ranjeeta Sharma, 28, died on the side of a Huntly road in the attack last week. Her husband Diwesh Kumar Sharma, 29, is in custody in Fiji, stuff.co.nz reports.
New Zealand police are operating out of Suva’s Peninsula Hotel during the questioning, but no charges have been laid against Sharma.
“We are currently evaluating the various options available to us. Our investigation has been benefiting from the full support of not only the Fijian police, but that of other agencies both over there and back here in New Zealand. The man has not been arrested and no charges have been laid by our staff,” Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall said. (ANI)
