French police ban serving of sausages, cocktails in Muslim neighbourhood
June 16th, 2010 - 6:13 pm ICT by ANIParis, June 16 (ANI): French police have banned a street party whose organisers planned to serve cocktails and pork sausages in a Muslim neighbourhood here.
According to Scotsman.com, the so-called “Sausage and Booze” party could have been viewed as a provocation in the Goutte-d’Or district of northern Paris, where many Muslims pray on the streets because of a lack of mosques, police said.
Islam forbids alcohol and pork and the party had been planned for just after Friday’s main Muslim prayers.
Organisers said they were holding the party in protest over Islam’s encroachment on traditional French values in the neighbourhood. (ANI)
