Freeze all aid to ‘disloyal ally’ Pakistan: US lawmaker
September 27th, 2011 - 8:53 pm ICT by IANSWashington, Sep 27 (IANS) Calling Pakistan a “disloyal ally”, a US lawmaker has introduced legislation in the US Congress to freeze all US aid to Islamabad except funds designated to help secure nuclear weapons.
“By sending aid to Pakistan, we are funding the enemy, endangering Americans and undermining our efforts in the region,” Ted Poe said while tabling the resolution in the House of Representatives Friday.
“We pay them to hate us, now we pay them to bomb us,” he said. “Let’s not pay them at all. And that’s just the way it is.”
“Ever since we found Osama bin Laden living the high life in Abbottabad, we’ve had our suspicions about Pakistan,” Poe said.
“Turns out they are disloyal, deceptive and a danger to the United States,” he said. “This so-called ally takes billions in US aid, while at the same time supporting the militants who attack us.”
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, has revealed that the Pakistani government supported the groups who were behind a truck bombing attack that wounded more than 70 US and NATO Troops, he noted.
“And the recent attack on the US embassy. This should be the last rodeo for Pakistan,” Poe said.
The passage of the resolution, however, is not assured as only a few resolutions are finally taken up by the House of Representatives after approval by the house foreign affairs committee, to which it has now been referred.
