Free download was ‘moment in time’, says Radiohead singerMay 1st, 2008 - 1:50 pm ICT by admin
London, May 1 (IANS) Thom Yorke, the lead singer of Radiohead, says the controversial free download offer for their album “In Rainbows” was just a one-off thing and will not be repeated. The band did not have a record deal at that time and released the album online for free, allowing fans to choose their own price, ananova.com reports. Yorke clarified that it will not be emulated in the future.
He said: “I think it was a one-off response to a particular situation. It was one of those things where we were in the position of everyone asking us what we were going to do, I don’t think it would have the same significance now anyway, if we chose to give something away again. It was a moment in time.”
