Mosul (Iraq), June 11 (IANS) Four people were killed and 47 injured in two car bomb blasts in Iraq’s Mosul city Saturday, Xinhua quoted a police source as saying.

“Our latest reports said the toll from Mosul’s double car bomb explosions increased to four civilians and 47 others wounded, including three policemen and one soldier,” the source stated citing the latest hospital reports in the city.

The incident occurred in a busy street of al-Mata’im in al-Dawasa district in central Mosul, about 400 km north of Baghdad, when two booby-trapped cars went off successively, the source said.

The powerful blasts left at least 10 vehicles ablaze and caused severe damage to about 20 nearby restaurants, shops and buildings, the source added.

The attackers used the old tactic of first causing a car bomb explosion to draw security forces and people and then setting off another car bomb blast to cause heavier casualties, the source said.
