Four killed in factory explosion in Turkey
February 3rd, 2011 - 8:05 pm ICT by IANSAnkara, Feb 3 (IANS) At least four people have been killed and 24 others injured in a powerful explosion which occured in a factory in the Turkish capital Ankara Thursday, a TV channel reported.Two storeys of the four-storeyed OSTIM Mega Center building collapsed in the blast in Ostim, Ankara’s main industrial area, Xinhua reported Thursday.
“Four people died and 24 are injured,” Governor of Ankara Alaaddin Yuksel was quoted as saying in the report.
Mayor of Ankara Melih Gokcek said, “Four or five workers are still under the debris” and civil defence teams and search and rescue teams are trying to reach the trapped workers.
The cause of the blast, however, is not known.
