Four killed in Colombia shootout
July 31st, 2010 - 9:22 pm ICT by IANSBogota, July 31 (IANS/EFE) Four people were killed and another was wounded in a gunfight among suspected drug dealers in Colombia, police said.
The incident happened in the northwestern Colombian city of Medellin, the head of operations for the municipal police said Friday.
The shooting evidently arose from an argument over the distribution of profits from drug sales, Col. Adan Leon Bermudez said, adding the victims were apparently small-time drug dealers.
Medellin, which became notorious in the 1980s and 1990s as the scene of drug-related carnage, has again become one of Colombia’s most violent cities after achieving widely acknowledged success in bringing down crime rates.
