Four killed in blasts targeting Pakistan Navy buses (Lead)
April 26th, 2011 - 12:41 pm ICT by IANSKarachi, April 26 (IANS) Four people, including a woman doctor, were killed and 32 injured in twin bombings targeting two Pakistan Navy buses in different parts of this Pakistani port city.
The first terror strike was reportedly a suicide attack, while the second one was a remote controlled device that went off as the bus carrying the naval personnel passed by.
The first attack took place at about 7.50 a.m. when a suicide bomber rammed his motorcycle into a Pakistan Navy bus that was in the Defense area of the city, Xinhua reported.
The massive explosion killed at least three people, including the woman doctor, and injured 17 people on board the bus. The bus was carrying an estimated 50 officers from their homes to the office.
In the second attack on another navy bus, at least one person was killed and 15 were injured, reported Duniya TV.
The second attack took place at about 8 a.m. in Baldia town area of Karachi shortly after the first attack was carried out.
Police sources said that a bomb placed inside a garbage heap along a road in the Baldia town was exploded by a remote control device when the navy bus was passing by.
