Four arrested in Mexico for torture video
October 28th, 2009 - 2:56 pm ICT by IANSMexico City, Oct 28 (EFE) Four people suspected of being involved in the beating and abuse of five teenage boys and subsequently filming it have been arrested in the western Mexican state of Nayarit, a media report said.
The video, which was posted on the Internet, depicts the beatings and shows the boys kissing each other on the orders of tormentors armed with assault rifles, the report added.
While the assailants can’t be seen, their remarks indicate they were out to teach the adolescents a lesson after they caught them trying to rob a house, the report added Tuesday.
Nayarit’s Attorney General, Hector Bejar Fonseca, said that police “studied the videos to detect, determine and identify the voices of the people who appeared there and the place where the events took place”.
He said that though the victims don’t want to press charges, authorities plan to prosecute the attackers for several offences, including the impersonation of a police officer.
He also identified the four suspects as drug dealers.
The police arrested them on a tip off that some men sitting in a bar were boasting of having created the video, Fonseca added.
