- Washington, Nov 13 (DPA) Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the US Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people at the Fort Hood military base in Texas a week ago, is paralysed from the waist downwards, his lawyer told broadcaster CNN Friday.
“It appears he won’t be able to walk in the future,” said Hasan’s civilian attorney, retired Army Colonel John Galligan.
Hasan is alleged to have opened fire at a military processing centre at Fort Hood Nov 5. Two police officers returned the fire, wounding Hasan.
The suspect has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and will be tried in a military court, the army announced Thursday.
