‘Former Libyan spy chief was double agent for Britain, US’
April 3rd, 2011 - 8:02 pm ICT by IANSLondon, April 3 (IANS) Musa Kusa, the former Libyan intelligence chief who defected to Britain, was acting as a double agent for the MI6 and the CIA for a decade, an official said.
Kusa had met former MI6 chief John Scarlett in 2001 in London. He reportedly pledged to help track down Al Qaeda activity in North Africa, saying that a British agent could operate in Tripoli.
The former spy chief who defected to Britain last week was being questioned by the security services and ministry of defence interrogation teams at a house in Surrey, according to the Daily Express.
“It has been an extremely benign form of interrogation so far. His chief concern has been the safety of his family. He was allowed to phone them but lines were down,” the official said.
