Former KGB officer claims to have cremated Hitler
May 1st, 2010 - 1:36 pm ICT by ANIMoscow, May 1 (ANI): A former KGB officer has sensationally claimed to have cremated the bones of Adolf Hitler.
Russian Vladimir Gumenyuk, 73, refused to disclose the location of the ashes fearing the site could become a neo-Nazi pilgrimage one.
Vladimir is the last survivor from the team of three sent by the KGB in 1970 to exhume Hitler’s remains along with those of his mistress Eva Braun.
“We were ordered to burn the remains of Hitler and all his entourage, and blow them to the wind,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.
He said that having dug them up near Magdeburg, in former East Germany, they burnt the bones and drove to the top of a cliff on a small unnamed stream - where they scattered the ashes.
The officials posed as fishermen to avoid attracting attention. “No one was there - 20 seconds and the job was done. It was just the last flight of the Fuhrer,” said Vladimir. (ANI)
