Jan 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sonny Perdue even on his last day as the Governor of Georgia went through an unrest as the state experienced harsh weather conditions due to the strong winter storm that had blasted on Sunday. The bad weather conditions forced the former Governor to call out for an emergency so that he could ensure that no one faces any kind of hazard even during the last day in the office. Sunday was his last day when he carried out his role as Georgia’s Governor before passing the responsibilities to Nathan Deal who takes up the Governor’s role from Monday itself.
The National Weather Department had already issued out warning for the arrival of a dangerous snow storm. The predictions turned out to be true dumping around 6 inches of snow in various parts of the city. Atlanta is said to be one of the places that has been badly hit by the snow storm. Sunday’s snowstorm has landed the Georgians amidst a wintry deluge as snow and sleet covered the parts of various cities of Georgia. Sonny Perdue gave out executive orders before the storm hit the area. Keeping in mind the safety of the citizens, new Governor Nathan Deal executed orders for canceling a grand event that was slated to be held on Monday night since the weather conditions have not shown any signs of progress.
Nathan Deal said that for the government the safety of the Georgians comes first. He announced that he had encouraged every Georgian to stay in their houses instead of daring to tread outside amidst the dangerous weather conditions. The afternoon inauguration ceremony was shifted inside the Capitol due to the bad weather conditions.
