Seventies Slayings Trial California, Mar 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A former contestant of the ‘Dating Game’ was sentenced to die on Tuesday. Rodney Alcala’s crime was that he had killed four women and a child in the 1970’s. He was convicted in February on the charges of kidnapping and killing a 12-year-old girl, and raping and murdering four Los Angeles County women in the 1970s.

“Losing Robin, we lost so many things. We didn’t get to watch her grow up. We didn’t get to see her graduate high school or college, see her have a dance career, get married and/or have children. He took her life, her future and our joy,” said Marianne Connelly, who was the mother of 12 years old Robin Samsoe, who had been killed by Rodney in 1979.

Rodney had committed the murders between November 1977 and June 1979. The 66 years old Rodney has been behind bars since 1979. He was convicted and he has also been sentenced to death twice but both the times, he was fortunate enough to get the decision reversed in his appeals.

Prior to becoming a serial killer, Rodney Alcala appeared on the show ‘The Dating Game’. Jed Mills was the unfortunate contestant who was sitting next to him on that fateful day, and she says that she remembers it still quite clearly. She says that he was very creepy.
