Foreign ministers of Turkey, six Gulf nations meet
January 29th, 2012 - 11:05 pm ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, Jan 29 (IANS/WAM) Foreign ministers of Turkey and six countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council — Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Oman — met in Istanbul and discussed ways to improve cooperation.
The UAE was represented at the Turkey-GCC High Level Strategic Dialogue Foreign Ministers’ Meeting by Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Trade between Turkey and the GCC countries grew by 36 percent. Investment by the GCC countries in Turkey went up to $30 billion in 2011, officials said.
The two sides will now work on the construction of a high-speed railway in the Middle East.
