Flyover, park to be dedicated to Mehdi Hassan
April 25th, 2011 - 1:07 pm ICT by IANSKarachi, April 25 (IANS) A flyover and a park here would be dedicated to famous ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan, an official said.
District Coordination Officer, Karachi, Muhammad Hussain Syed said the flyover and park would be dedicated to “King of Ghazal” Mehdi Hassan as a tribute to his remarkable service to classical music.
The official visited Hassan’s house Sunday to inquire about his health, Daily Times reported.
He described Hassan as a precious asset of Pakistan and handed over a cheque of Rs.50,000 to him.
Hassan, a former playback singer for Pakistani films, ruled the country’s film industry till the 1980s when due to severe illness he stepped down from singing.
