Kabul, Aug 1 (Xinhua) At least five NATO soldiers were killed Friday in two separate roadside bomb blasts in eastern Afghanistan, officials said. In the first blast, four soldiers and a civilian were killed in the northeastern Afghan province of Kunar, while another soldier was killed in the eastern province of Khost, a statement of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), said.

The ISAF, however, did not disclose the nationalities of the soldiers.

Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman, Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

In the recent past, Afghanistan has witnessed a surge of Taliban attacks on International and Afghan troops.

More than 2,500 people have been killed in insurgency related violence this year in Afghanistan.
