Five killed in US fire
January 2nd, 2011 - 5:58 am ICT by IANSWashington, Jan 2 (IANS) Five people, including four children, were killed in a fire at a building in the US state of Washington, a media report said. The fire began at a unit of the Sammamish Ridge Apartments building in Redmond city Saturday morning, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Firefighters said the children, all believed to be under the age of ten, were inside a middle unit of the four-storey building that caught fire at around 2.30 a.m. A 32-year-old man in the apartment also died.
A woman, 30, was injured in the incident and taken to a hospital.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, flames were visible from all three stories of the building, said Redmond police.
Though authorities believe all of the victims were in the same apartment, it’s unclear if they were all from the same family.
