Islamabad, May 20 (Xinhua) A blast took place in northwestern Pakistan injured five people, TV channel Dawn News reported Tuesday. The explosion occurred when an army truck goes by at Kohat town in North West Frontier Province (NWFP), said the report.

The blast was triggered by an improvised explosive device and four security personnel and a civilian suffered injuries.

No group claimed responsibility for the blast.

It is the third attack targeting security forces in the past three days in the northwestern part of the country. Two bomb blasts in the northwestern tribal areas left around 16 people dead during the last two days.

Talks are going on between local Taliban militants and the government in a bid to wrap up a peace agreement in northwestern Pakistan. The Taliban demanded the withdrawal of troops from the restive northwestern areas while Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani insisted that the government would not negotiate with militants who were reluctant to lay down their weapons.
