February 8th, 2010 - 2:10 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Connecticut (US), Feb.8 (ANI): Five workers died Sunday when a Connecticut power plant blew up, sending a huge fireball into the sky and shaking the ground for miles.
A survivor who was 50 feet off the ground building scaffolding when the blast hit told the Daily News the carnage was terrible.
“I saw the guys below me just got flattened. There was a group of them. I don’t know how many,” the New York Daily News quoted Nick, a worker from Norwich, whose hard-hat and glasses were knocked off by the force of the explosion.
His face was streaked with dirt and tears.
A dozen workers were hospitalised after the blast at the Kleen Energy Plant, which was nearing completion in Middletown, a college town about 15 miles south of Hartford.
Dogs were searching the rubble for more victims. Officials said multiple contractors were working the site and no one could nail down how many people were still missing. (ANI)
