Five ccops among seven killed in Afghan attack (Lead)

Kabul, Feb 5 (IANS) Five policemen and two civilians, including a child, died in a car bomb attack in Afghanistan’s Kandahar city Sunday.
“A car bomb (attack) carried out by the enemies and hit Kandahar city at noon today (Sunday) claimed the lives of seven people, including two civilians and five policemen,” the Kandahar provincial government said in a statement.
The former Taliban stronghold is 450 km from Kabul.
Nineteen others others were injured, Xinhua reported. A child is among those killed, the statement said.
Kandahar Governor Tooryali Weesa condemned the attack.
