susanSep 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) One gets a strange feeling while looking at the face of 47-year-old Connie Culp who became the first person in United States to get a full face transplant done almost two years ago. However, her strange appearance does not bother her anymore as she wants to become an advocate for organ donation. Inspired by the anonymous donor who gave her a new lease of life, Connie Culp now promises to inspire many others to do the same. The lady recently went on to extend her support for an organization named LifeBanc that had come up with yet another of its branch for organ donation in Warrensville Heights. Addressing the crowd that had gathered, Connie Culp said “I’m doing good”. LifeBanc is a non-profit making organization that works with a mission of coordinating organ and tissue donations to provide a fresh lease of life to people like Connie Culp.

Connie Culp had gone under the scalpel for more than twenty-two times during the period of last two years. She was shot in her face by her husband in 2004. For years she failed to eat anything and was fed through a tube. It was for that anonymous donor back in 2008 that she got a new facial structure. After a series of surgeries, she can now somewhat feel her lips and smile a bit.

Connie Culp, who does not want to discuss much about the incident and her husband, says that the only person who can make a whole lot of difference in the life of an accidentally mutilated individual is a donor. “Just one person can make a difference by donating your organ”, Connie Culp mentioned adding that in times to come she would like to get associated with more organizations like LifeBanc.
