Cannes, May 23 (Prensa Latina) Director Steven Soderbergh’s “Che”, about Argentina’s legendary revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara, starring Benicio Del Toro, is leading the race for the top honours at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. “When going deeper on the research over the character (Che), I was overawed by such a great personality, I was every time more and more overwhelmed by his magnanimity,” Puerto Rican Del Toro said.
Soderbergh said he has tried to delve deep into history in the four hours and 28 minutes of his other two long-length films entitled “El Argentino y Guerrilla” to honour Che.
The filmmaker defended the idea of having made the film in Spanish language to make it credible.
Toro and Soderbergh, among others, keep on reiterating their admiration for the Argentinean-Cuban revolutionary man.
