New Delhi, April 7 (IANS) International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Leandro Negre, who is in India on an official visit, admitted that security was a concern for staging the 2010 hockey World Cup here.
Negre met Indian Olympic Association (IOA) officials and Sports Minister M.S. Gill Tuesday and said he has got assurances of fool-proof security.

“The FIH delegation met IOA officials and Sports Minister M.S. Gill. They have given us full assurances of security. But still there are certain concerns that have to be addressed,” Negre told reporters.

“Security is a vital aspect. Terrorist attack can be carried out anywhere in the world.”

The FIH President took stock of India’s progress in staging the prestigious tournament next year. He also inspected the venues — the National Stadium and Dhyan Chand Stadium.
