London, Jan 23 (ANI): A 40-year-old Irish woman who forced her teenage son to have sex with her and abused her other five children for years in a rat-infested house of horrors was jailed for seven years on Thursday.

The womans name cannot be revealed in order to protect the identities of the children.

Her instance echoes Josef Fritzl’’s case who allegedly held his daughter captive for 24 years and fathered her seven children. He imprisoned Elisabeth in a dungeon, which was later dubbed house of horrors.

Prosecutors charged Fritzl in November 2008 with murder for refusing to arrange medical treatment for the seventh child, who died in infancy.

He also faces charges of rape, incest, false imprisonment and enslavement.

The Irish woman admitted to police that her children - now aged between 10 and 19 - were often blue with cold, had dinner only twice a week and had lice crawling over their bodies, reports the Telegraph.

“It was a house of horrors with bells on,” she was quoted as saying by several Irish newspapers.

“I can safely say that I was the worst mother in the world and I”d turn back the clock if I could, but I can”t,” she said.

Her young son was forced to have sex with his mother on four occasions over a six-year period, the Irish Independent newspaper said.

The woman was sentenced to seven years after pleading guilty at Roscommon Circuit Court to 10 charges, including two of incest, two of sexual abuse and six of neglect and wilful ill-treatment and neglect of the children between 1998 and 2004. (ANI)
